‘Backpack medics’ risk lives in Myanmar’s jungle warzones

This article, published by InterAksyon, describes the dangerous work our medics do in the field. They travel for months at a time over mountains and through forests, carrying heavy packs full of medical supplies, and evading Burmese military that sees them as opposition. “…since [Back Pack] was created in 1998 nine medics and a midwife have been killed by regime troops or their landmines, most recently in July 2010. Several others have been imprisoned.”
